The authorities of Bahía Blanca continue to work to provide assistance throughout the city, as confirmed by Mayor Federico Susbielles. In recent minutes, an evacuation occurred at the National University of the South building, where donations were being received, due to the presence of chemical substances from laboratories affected by the storm.
Water flooded the basement of the institution, which houses the central library and chemistry and physics laboratories with various elements. As a precaution, it was decided to evacuate the people present and prohibit access to the building. In light of this situation, the reception of donations has been moved to the Liniers club located at 12 de Octubre 1046.
The mayor of Bahía Blanca, Federico Susbielles, expressed his condolences to the families of the storm victims, confirming the death of 16 people and noting that this number could increase. Additionally, on his official social media, he informed that they are still searching for Delfina and Pilar, the two girls who were in a missing van.
"Today we can confirm that suspending classes on Friday morning was a decision that allowed us to save many lives. In this difficult moment, I want to highlight the solidarity of the people of Bahía Blanca, who in the toughest times always show their best version," expressed the mayor.
